Keystone Lake
a swelled section of the
Verdigris River in northeast
Oklahoma.
Keystone Lake is a gem
located just west of Tulsa
on Highway 412, and
since the completion of
the dam back in 1964, it’s
been a hotspot for family
fun, camping, fishing and
water recreation.
What makes Keystone
appealing to many is its
close proximity to Tulsa –
you can be in downtown
Tulsa in half an hour or less
if traffic and construction
are at a minimum. Other
nearby communities
like Sand Springs and
Mannford provide all the
essentials and emergency
services, and if you
have an entertainment
emergency that needs
immediate attention,
good times also abound
at Keystone Lake from the
state park of the same
name to Ugly John’s
Marina, just north of 412
near Bear’s Glen.
Bottom line – easy
access (via Highway 412
or Highway 51) make
Keystone Lake a great
destination anytime. For

Lake McMurtry, located
just eight miles west of
Carl Blackwell, being so
closely situated to one
of the finest schools in
the state (GO POKES!),
offers co-eds, staff and
citizens of surrounding
communities the perfect
place to soak up the sun,
swim, people watch,
camp and generally have
a pretty darn good time
at one of Oklahoma’s best
kept aquatic secrets. OSU
is heavily involved with
the lake and they host a
wide variety of organized
events there.
A few miles closer to town,
there’s no better place
to get out and relax by
the smaller, calmer Lake
McMurtry. Book your
group into the lake’s many
cabins or tent camp. Either
way, the party is on.

Skiatook Lake
Skiatook Lake,
conveniently named
after the town it’s situated
closest to, is the home
of the Tallgrass Music
Festival held the first
weekend of June, and the
CrossTimbers Resort, a new
development featuring
ground-breaking design
and innovation.
Widely renowned as
Oklahoma’s clearest lake,
Skiatook Lake is only four
miles from Skiatook, 11
miles from Hominy and
just a short 30-minute
drive from Tulsa. The
lake as we now know it
took shape back in 1984
with the completion of
Skiatook Dam, and the
watery wonderland has
been a destination for
bluegrassers, anglers and
adventurers ever since.
