The Beach Boys and
The Temptations team up for nostalgia trip

MUSKOGEE , Okla . – The “ Surf & Soul Tour ” makes its way to the Muskogee Civic Center on Thursday , April 20 , when two of music ’ s most iconic bands , The Beach Boys and The Temptations , team up for one can ’ t miss show . Tickets are available online or through the Civic Center box-office and range from $ 28- $ 93 with the show set to begin at 7:30 p . m .
The Temptations , who were essential in the evolution and style of 1960s and ‘ 70s R & B and soul , rose to popularity thanks to hit singles like “ My Girl ,” “ Ain ’ t Too Proud to Beg ,” and “ Papa Was a Rollin ’ Stone .” Over the course of their career , The Temptations , earned three Grammy Awards , had four Billboard Hot 100 No . 1 singles , and sold tens of millions of albums worldwide . In 1989 six members of The Temptations were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and more recently the Rolling Stone ranked the band No . 68 on their list of the “ 100 Greatest Artists of All Time .”
The Beach Boys , who remain one of the most influential groups of all time , come to Muskogee for the first time for this

Debuting in 1962 with Surfin ’ Safari , The Beach Boys immediately had an impact on rock and roll history , and spread their carefree and upbeat California sound all across the world . However , in 1966 , The Beach Boys began exploring new territory with Pet Sounds , one of rock and rolls most revolutionary and historical endeavors . Over the next several decades The Beach Boys endured a series of highs and lows , but their legacy lived on , and the band experienced a revival in the latter half of the ‘ 80s .
Over the course of their career , The Beach Boys accounted for 36 Top 40 hits , sold over 100 million albums , a Grammy Award , and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 .
