Job fair and workshops to provide students with invaluable skills
The Career Center for Development will be hosting a part - time job fair for students who are looking to become employed soon. The job fair will be Sept. 18 in the Davidson and Schuster lobby from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. There is expected to be around 70 employers including Chick-fil-A, Boys and Girls Club, and Coco Cola. Even though it is technically a part - time job fair there will also be 26 full – time employers and 16 internship opportunities. “It’s important for current students to attend any job fair so that they have experience and know how to interact with potential employers. It also gives them an opportunity to gain interpersonal skills and meet employers face to face and that enhances the chances of landing a job.” said Alysia Johnson, Career Coordinator. The job fairs are garnered towards current students and will provide information about the companies while meeting with the hiring entities. Many students have landed a job or internship with the help of the job fairs and this upcoming one will be no different. “I like the idea of the job fairs because of the convenience. I’m planning to stop by and see what I can find.” said Stephanie Carney, criminal justice. In the future, The Career Center will also have various workshops that will provide vital information for students. Students will have the opportunity to learn about financial success, employment skills, and job shadowing. The next Career Opportunities Fair will be the larger fair located in Atlanta on Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. Students who sign up will gain access to the shuttle that will transport them to the location.

Being a student here at Columbus State University means that a great portion of us live on campus. Living on campus leaves lasting impression on us all. Whether you had the roommate angel or the curse from hell, we all have heard or have voiced how we really feel about living in the residences. Students here at CSU are lucky to be able to voice their opinions widely and openly about our on-campus housing.
Pros
“Living on Main Campus allows for easy transportation to classes; I can either take the shuttle or walk wherever I need to go,” says Courtyard One resident Columbia Renix.
Cons
Columbia also says, “Not that I have any, but here on main campus we usually have to share bathrooms and bedrooms and it can get territorial, especially with girls.”
Another Courtyard One Resident, Kendra Beasley says “On Main Campus we have very many ways and opportunities to stay fit. We have so many places to walk and the Rec Center is a short trip away.”
“Unfortunately, the laundry room lacks enough appliances to support thr amount of students in the courtyard,” says Kendra.
Sophomore and Courtyard Two resident, Dancilia Harmon says, “While living on campus I have been exposed to so much. It’s so easy to get involved on campus, there’s always something going on!”
“I know I like my privacy and even though I like my roommates, sometimes I feel like I don’t have enough privacy,” says Dancilia.
