JUNIOR GOLF
The First Tee of Connecticut Announces 2015 Programs
T
he First Tee of Connecticut reaches out to nearly 67,000 youth annually across
Connecticut to introduce educational programs that build character, instill
life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
In partnership with 14 golf facilities, 147 schools and youth service agencies like the
YMCA, Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs, Hartford and Waterbury PAL (Police Activity Leagues),
The First Tee of Connecticut has helped positively impact countless young people from
all walks of life by teaching them values like integrity, respect and perseverance through
the game of golf. In addition to learning fundamentals of the golf swing and the game, young people participate
in character education and life skills programs which help prepare them for success on the course, in the classroom
and beyond.
The First Tee Life Skills Experience is one of the unique features that differentiates The First Tee from
other youth initiatives and junior golf programs. The Life Skills Experience helps young people build character
by focusing on Nine Core Values: Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility,
Perseverance, Courtesy and Judgment and Nine Healthy Habits: Energy, Play, Safety, Vision, Mind, Family, Friends,
School and Community. The First Tee Nine Healthy Habits were created through collaboration among The First
Tee, the ANNIKA Foundation, and Florida Hospital for Children to promote healthy, active lifestyles for young
people.
The First Tee of Connecticut has program locations statewide including Bridgeport, Cromwell, Danbury,
East Granby, Ellington, Hartford, Madison, Middletown, New Britain, North Branford, Norwalk, Pawcatuck,
Prospect, and Woodstock.
Exciting news! Two new program locations will open this summer – stayed tuned to The First Tee of
