Looking Ahead: Full Slate of Championships for 2014
As the snow finally begins to melt, the CSGA staff is hard Rolling Hills Country Club
at work preparing for the upcoming season. Registration
pages, websites, player e-mails and news stories are just
a few of the many tasks that mark the beginning of the
championship season. 2014 will be the 115th official season
of CSGA competition, which gets under way with the 43rd
playing of the Julius Boros Challenge Cup at New Haven
Country Club.
Among the many highlights of the calendar include
a pair of clubs hosting their respective championships
for the first time in tournament history. On June 16th 20th, the state’s top Amateur players will gather at Lake
of Isles in North Stonington, Connecticut for the 112th
Connecticut Amateur Championship. Founded in 2005 by
the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, Lake of Isles is
located across the street from the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
Renowned Golf Course Architect Rees Jones designed 36
unique holes that wind their way through 900 acres of
wooded Connecticut countryside, and around a 90-acre
lake, appropriately named “Lake of Isles”. The course
previously hosted the Connecticut Open Championship in
2007, won by Jeff Curl with a remarkable three round total
of eight under-par 208.

For the first time in championship history, Rolling Hills
Country Club in Wilton, Connecticut will host the state’s
top professional and amateur golfers for the Connecticut Open Championship on July 28th - 30th.
Established in 1961 and designed by Alfred Tull, the course was built on property acquired from the
historic Ambler Farm. The club has previously hosted four CSGA major championships - the 2011
Connecticut Amateur, 2010 Russell C. Palmer Cup, 2005 Connecticut Senior Amateur Championship
and 2002 Connecticut Women’s Open Championship.. The course stretches to 6,722 yards from the
back tees and demands accurate tee shots and precise approach shots to a set of undulating greens
that prove penal if missed in the wrong spot.
Registration is now open for all CSGA championships and qualifiers, and all eligible players can
apply via the CSGA website at csgalinks.org. On behalf of the entire CSGA staff and volunteers, we
hope to see you throughout the 2014 season at one of our many championships and qualifiers!
