Connecticut Represented at 10th Women’s State Team Matches
On September 17th-19th, the team of Lisa FernBoros, Jennifer Holland and Debbie Johnson
traveled to Kettering, Ohio to compete in the
10th Women’s State Team Championship at NCR
Country Club. The tournament gathers threeperson teams from all 50 states, the District
of Columbia and Puerto Rico to compete in a
54 hole stroke play championship. Connecticut
shot a team score of 173-173--346 to finish in a
tie for 42nd place. Congratulations to the team
on representing Connecticut in this national
championship.
Paladino Continues Record Summer with Win at
89th California State Fair Championship
Cody Paladino of Wethersfield Country Club continued his
record-breaking summer by capturing the 89th California State
Fair Championship. The tournament, whose past champions
include Kevin Sutherland, Ken Venturi and Al Geiberger, is held in
conjunction with the California State Fair at MacKenzie Golf Course
at Haggin Oaks in Sacramento, California. Paladino shot rounds of
66-70-66 for a total of fourteen under-par, which landed him in a
playoff with Joel Stalter and Brandon Hagy. After making birdie on
the first two playoff holes, he made a 20-foot eagle putt for the win
on the 3rd playoff hole.
Connecticut tops leaderboard at New England Senior Amateur
Shawn McLoughlin of Ridgewood Country Club (below center) captured the 2013 New England
Amateur in record fashion, shooting 73-72--145 to win by a single stroke. Connecticut had the most
players of any state (7) in the Top 15. Among those were Bill Hermanson (Runner-up- below left) and
Bill Torza (T11- below right).
