SUMMER Friday, March 20, 2015 A look at area summer camps NEWTON COUNTY RECREATION COMMISSION • Basketball camp June 15-19 at Turner Lake 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. CHARLIE ELLIOTT WILDLIFE CENTER 2015 Junior Naturalist Summer Camp Day Camp Sessions Nature Scouts (ages 5-6): This fun-filled week gives campers the chance to discover the amazing world of animals and their habitats through games and exploration. Ponding and wildlife watching are just a few of the fun activities that will round out our adventures. • June 2-5, 2014 (9 a.m. – 1:30pm) • Cost: $120 per camper Charlie’s Trackers (ages 7-8): Just like Charlie Elliott in his youth, campers will gain new outdoor skills while they hike forest trails, explore waterways and search for wildlife evidence. Live animal encounters, games and crafts are also planned for this week of fun and adventure. • June 9-12, 2015 (9 a.m. - 4 p.m.) • Cost: $125 per camper Wildlife Rangers (ages 9-10): Wildlife Rangers will travel back in time to imagine what life was like for the Native Americans and early settlers of this area. Campers will learn basic survival skills such as shelter building, outdoor cooking, animal tracking, fishing, canoeing, archery, games and old-time music.
