AROUND TOWN
Montessori School serves up Chili goodness
The Montessori School of Covington
carried on a tradition of education and
gratitude this week when it held its 14th
Annual Community Appreciation Chili
Luncheon Monday.
The students’ mothers and fathers rotate
participation each year, and this year it was
the mommas’ turn to help out in the kitchen.
The children prepared all the food and
drink served at the luncheon to government officials, fireman and police officers.
The students prepared chili, lemonade
— which according to student Thomas
Fletcher, was hard to squeeze — and tea
and desert such as dirt cups.
Why serve a cup of chocolate and gum-
my worms that looks more like a snack for
birds? It’s simple.
“It tastes good,” 6-year-old Simon Oliver said.
The children also greet, serve and cleanup the tables during lunch.
All leftover food is donated to the Covington Fire Department.
