Covington-The Blimpie sandwich
shop on Elm Street was open
Tuesday after being forced to close
by Covington Fire Marshall Tony
Smith Sunday.
The sandwich shop was shut
down due to damage caused by a
truck, pulling a trailer.
A truck crashed into the sandwich
shop shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday,
causing structural damage to the
restaurant according to Covington
Fire Marshall Tony Smith.
“Because this is a load-bearing
wall, he’s going to have to get
somebody in here to put stiff legs
under it, at a minimum,” Smith said.
The truck was parked behind the
restaurant when the driver went in
to order a sandwich, and it rolled
down into Blimpie unattended.
