Newton County Community Food Pantry Solid Rock Baptist Church Belmont Baptist Church Willing Helpers Rainbow Covenant Ministries Washington Street Community Center Check with your local church to see if they also operate a food assistance program 17,800 People are food insecure 6,550 Children are food insecure HOW CAN YOU HELP? -Donate funds. Not only do food assistance programs need food, they also need to keep the lights and refrigerators on. Larger organizations also have full time or part time staff to pay. -Donate product. You can donate as an individual or a group. Restaurants, food manufacturers, wholesalers, farmers, and other businesses are encouraged to donate unused or overstocked food. -Attend a fundraising event like the Hunger Walk. This year’s 5K Hunger Walk will take place on Sunday, March 15, from 12-4 p.m. at Turner Field. Register online at HWR2015.org. -Volunteer. Contact your local food bank for details.
