ational Signing Day is almost over a month
gone, but future signing days could be heavily
affected by situations that occurred this year.
For example, Roquan Smith declined to sign his
national letter of intent (NLI) and waited weeks after
signing day to make his decision. UCLA defensive
coordinator left the school for a job with the Atlanta
Falcons and after seeing that, Smith decided not to
sign his NLI and committed to UGA weeks later. This
poses an interesting circumstance for
future signees as a lot of players
at other schools were shocked
when they saw coordinators leave,
something that is a crucial aspect
of recruits’ decision on where to
