GranstromLivesey wins
Surrey Amateur
Championship
THE cream of Surrey amateur golf
congregated at Kingswood and
Surrey Downs this summer for the
36 hole-qualifying for the Surrey
Amateur Championship.
Some fantastic play was displayed
notably a new course record of 65
(-6) at Surrey Downs by Tom Neve
from RAC, 66 at the same course
by county captain David Corben
and a magnificent 68 (-4) at
Kingswood by Oscar GranstromLivesey of Royal Mid Surrey.
The final between Oscar and
David got underway in bright
sunshine in front of several
spectators anticipating a classic.
They were not to be disappointed
as the players traded early birdies
Oscar from 30 feet on the first and
David from ten feet on the third
hole.
Holes four to seven were all
halved in par before Oscar hit the
front again with a birdie on the
eighth and went two up after a
two-putt birdie on the par-five
ninth hole.
