THE COUNTY | 2019-2020
WITH THOUSANDS OF MILES OF NORDIC TRAILS
Take a wintry walk in snowshoes atop the snow to enjoy the solace that brings
so many to The County. For those dedicated to winter sport, connect with
one of the many clubs or winter sports facilities and get all tuned up. Or grab
some gear in town before you hit the trails.
More ways to make the best of the short but beautiful winter days include dog
sledding, skijoring (Nordic skiing aided by dogs), ice climbing, fat biking,
snow tubing, and even biathlon. For those just out for fun, there’s ski touring,
sledding, pond hockey, or ice-skating on a serene frozen lake or local rink.
and a few great places for alpine skiing, winter is when The County
shines for those who enjoy outdoor winter sports.
The opportunities to keep active continue even once the sun goes down, as
many ski centers and mountains offer lighted trails. With an LED headlamp
and a sense of adventure, the darkened trail becomes easy to navigate. While
you are out there, remember to turn your eyes skyward for an amazing array of
stars and the chance to catch the Northern Lights.
The great thing about wintertime trails is that once the weather turns warm,
most become ideal for hiking, trail running, mountain biking, or even just
a walk in the woods.
