Play amid stands of hardwoods, lake views, and sometimes even moose.
The County is home to a selection of spectacular golf courses offering unique
plays with big sky vistas that can only be found in Northern Maine. Golf courses
are open May through October but weather can affect opening dates.
You will find one of the best views from the back 9 of Va Jo Wa in Island Falls
high on a plateau overlooking Mt. Katahdin. On the eastern edge of the
region look for the Mars Hill Country Club; its 6th hole looks out on central
Aroostook County 150 feet above it’s green and the view goes on forever.
Caribou Country Club offers terrific views of the rustic countryside and local
wildlife, like partridge, deer, moose, and ducks, that wander onto the course.
The course has challenging play for golfers at every skill level. Tournament
players should head to Presque Isle Country Club, home to the Annual
Spudland Open Tournament—one of Maine’s major amateur golf events.
CROSS-BORDER PLAY
To play the Aroostook Valley Country Club will require an international
border crossing. The entrance and parking are in the USA, but players must
cross into Canada to play a round and spend time in the clubhouse. During
prohibition, it was the perfect solution for “thirsty” Maine golfers.

Golf Vacation. Just over the border in New Brunswick from Houlton up
to Edmonton, golfers will find several highly-rated courses, including
