About The County
GREETINGS FROM THE COUNTY,
The Seasons............................ 4
The Regions.......................... 6
We are all delighted that you are interested in coming to the region for
a visit or vacation some time soon. Scenic Drives.............................. 8
Having lived, worked, and played in The County for most of my life, I have
such fond memories of the wonderland of a winter’s day cruising on a
snowmobile, a spring morning of fishing deep in the woods, or picking
great big vases of brilliantly colored lupine for the table up at our camp. Paddling.................................... 12
Through the years I have grown fond of the close-knit communities all
over Aroostook County, watching as each year they gather together to
celebrate the things that make living here special. If you are coming this
summer, I especially suggest heading to Fort Fairfield for the 70th Annual
Maine Potato Blossom Festival; you’ll thank me later. Camping................................... 22
Outdoorsy types probably already know that The County is one of the best
places ever to enjoy outside recreation. There are quite literally MILLIONS
of acres here to be explored on foot, by bike, snowmobile, canoe, kayak, car,
ATV, snowshoe, ski, or even dog sled.

I’M HERE, JUST ASK!
If you need some hints on what to do when you get here, just give me a
call at 800-216-2463. I would be glad to give you some inside tips on places
to go, things to do, and activities to enjoy in The County. I’m here most
weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. I do leave a little early on summer Fridays and
we are closed on holidays. If I miss your call, and you leave a message with
a number where I can reach you, I will give you a call back.
I encourage you to also check out VisitAroostook.com and read a few of our
blog posts—each is a story or shared experience that gives insight into the kinds
of people you will meet on your visit. Take time to read this visitor’s guide
and study the map in the back. Get the lay of the land. You will quickly see
for yourself what a diverse and welcoming place we’ve got.
I truly look forward to talking with you soon,

P.S. One quick thing: When you call, I’d love to be able to help with AroostookCountyTourism
finding a moose, but they’ve asked me to keep their secrets. @visitaroostook
