saying nothing is going on downtown , but I disagree ,” Mayor Mark Mills said . “ People that say that need to take a drive downtown .”
Home décor shops , restaurants , specialty stores and even places to stay can be found on Main Street . Matt Hall Parsons and Paul Gilbert are happy to be part of that development while working on the Selby building and now Scoops .
“ I ’ m not from here and moved here not knowing anyone , but everybody has made me feel welcomed ,” Gilbert said . “ We are excited to see improvements being made downtown and happy to be part of that .”
Scoops features more than 20 flavors of ice cream and three flavors of sherbet . They also have a variety of toppings to mix in to ice cream , floats , hot-fudge sundaes and banana splits . Cake cones and handmade waffle cones will both be available .
The shop will be open
Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a . m . to 7 p . m . and Sunday from noon to 5 p . m . They will be closed on Mondays .
Scoops is located in the Frew Building , which is owned by Parsons and Gilbert . The building has four retail spaces and 10 apartments that are being renovated .
“ It ’ s no small step to start a small business , and this goes well beyond ice cream ,” said Lanny Spaulding , executive director of Our Town Coshocton . “ They ’ ve hit the ground running , and I ’ m proud to be working beside them .”
Gilbert is amazed by the community ’ s support and feedback .

“ Before October of last year , I had never been here , but Matt is originally from here ,” Gilbert said . “ I love the small town community feel . We have a vision of the old days when Main Street was hopping . We see people coming back to enjoy downtown , and we are excited to be part of that .”
