Cress releases new book ‘ Cry of the Witch ’

Maranda Cress began her professional writing career with a cookbook of healthy recipes dedicated to her fiancé who had lost his battle with cancer . The book was titled “ Cooking for a Cure .” The cookbook hit number one on Amazon the first day it was out and sold 200 copies the first day as well .
This first success was a great encouragement toward her desire to write . She has always had the passion from humble beginnings writing stories , making them into little books and giving them to family and friends when she was 7 years old .
Now Cress and her husband have a combined total of seven children . Despite the responsibility of parenting , she still finds time for her passion to write .
Her latest book , “ Cry of the Witch ,” is based in Coshocton County . The first novel in a fourpart series uses Coshocton folklore and haunts including Mary Stockum , the White Wolf , White Woman ’ s Rock and the spirits of three Native Americans from the past . There is a lot of tribal experiences in the book because this area was fought over by Native American tribes before it was a Canal Town .
Cress said , “ One of the reasons for this location was that these legends are true , and I wanted to promote tourism in the area .”
The novel is about the adventures of four high school friends who come across actual stories about the local haunts and legends while doing research for a history assignment . The main character , Callie Richards , awakens her ancestral powers through an encounter with her high school sweetheart and learns she is a witch ,

Cress is the publisher of her new four-part series of books through a program from Amazon . She used Amazon ’ s self-publishing service to independently publish her first book in paper back with Create Space and Kindle Direct Publishing to publish the digital version on Kindle .
Sept . 28 is the release date for “ Cry of the Witch ” on Amazon , a 96,000-word young adult urban fantasy .
