River View crowns its homecoming royalty

River View wasn ’ t able to hold a homecoming dance but still held activities during the school week and crowned its new king and queen before the football game on Sept . 11 . Receiving the honors were Andrew Ireland and Carolyn Cox . “ My grandmother was the first homecoming queen here ,” Cox said . “ This is so awesome . We talked about how cool it would be to see it happened . I ’ m super excited .” Her grandmother , Diane Cox , who earned the same title in fall 1965 , was able to attend the ceremony . “ I ’ m pretty excited ,” Diane Cox said . “ I ’ m really proud of her .” Ireland also was excited to receive his honor and glad the school let them hold the ceremony . “ It ’ s exciting and crazy ,” he said . “ I ’ m glad we have the opportunity to do this , especially since it ’ s our senior year .” The homecoming court ceremony and week full of activities were organized by River View ’ s student council .
