THURSDAY , SEPT . 17 , 1970 The National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test named CHS senior Steven R . Harris as a semi-finalist . The son of Mr . and Mrs . Russell Harris , he is a member of the Scholastic Honorary Club and has maintained a 4.0 through his high school career . He also received District State Test Awards in Advanced Algebra , World History , English 10 and French II .
MONDAY , SEPT . 22 , 1980 The Ohio Education Association has named Glenn Darr as its executive director . Darr , a Warsaw native , will assume the position Dec . 1 .

MONDAY , SEPT . 17 , 1990 After 20 years of service Clifford A . King has retired . King is founder of and until recently director for Coshocton ’ s Meals on Wheels . The 85 year old cites his health as the reason for his retirement . “ My eyes were no longer what they used to be ,” he told Robin Coffman , president of the organization . With his retirement he and his wife Anna will be taking advantage of the program he helped found .
TUESDAY , SEPT . 19 , 2000 The Hilltop Golf Course will play host to the Ladies League ’ s Women ’ s Invitational on Sept . 23 . The event is a fundraiser , which will go toward the Wigs Program , a charity which gives wigs to cancer patients . According to Julie Amore , one of the organizers , the idea to hold the tournament came about after the news that two of its members had been diagnosed .

WEDNESDAY , SEPT . 15 , 2010 The Second annual Derek Brown Elgart Memorial 5k will be held at Lake Park this weekend on the 19th . The event first held last year , raised more than $ 8,000 for the Coshocton Foundation , and honors Derek who passed away at the age of 14 . “ It was overwhelming . We just felt so blessed to have so much support . It was just a very neat feeling to be surrounded by so many people ,” said Amy Brown , Derek ’ s mother . “ I ’ m looking forward to a good turnout and great weather .
