4-H club beautifies area

A big part of 4-H is learning how to give back to the community , and Millfork Valley 4-H Club has been doing that with a beautification project at the corner of state Route 541 and County Road 58 .
The land , which is a piece of state-owned property , was cleared by another citizen , and the club has planted flowers there for about 10 years .
“ The corner had down trees and a lot of brush ,” said Elaine Ashcraft , club advisor . “ It was terrible . We ’ ve done different flower designs there . We ’ ve done a flag and a clover .”
This year they planted marigolds in the shape of 4-H , and there is a sign that says , “ 4-H grows here .”
“ A lot of people have said how much they appreciate it ,” Ashcraft said .
Patience Miller , the club ’ s president , helped plant and mulch the flower display .

Kristy Stiteler said . “ Kids need to learn that they can help make our community what it needs to be . You can make things like you want .”
Ashcraft hopes the project makes the 4-H club members see it doesn ’ t take big projects to make a difference .
“ The community can be better with a lot of people doing little things ,” she said .
