Randall Lee Hoffman
In addition to his lifework as a teacher , Randy was also an avid reader and traveler . A devotee to the study of history , he would travel far and spare no expense to visit historical sites and landmarks throughout the United States and Europe . He was quite knowledgeable regarding the history of the American Civil War and the history of Great Britain . As a friend of the Johnson- Humrickhouse Museum , he enjoyed attending its lecture programs .
Randy ' s interest in history and historical sites led him to the challenging task of restoring a local historical property . The Colonel Andrew Ferguson mansion , an 1840 ' s structure located east of West Lafayette , Ohio , had fallen into disrepair . Randy occupied the mansion and with the help of friends restoration began . His efforts were realized and in 1978 the property was entered into the National Registry of Historical locations .
In his leisure time , Randy enjoyed socializing with friends and reminiscing about the lifestyles , music and musicians of the 1960 ' s . He would travel far to attend rock concerts and events featuring The Beatles , The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan . He enjoyed the notalgia of the 60 ' s .
Randy loved all animals . Especially dogs and cats . If a stray dog or cat was hungry , he fed it . If it was wet and cold , he gave it shelter . if it needed professional care , he took it to the veterinarian . All animals had a friend in Randy . His pal of days gone by was an old English sheep dog named " Beethoven ". Randy will be missed .
A cremation has taken place and no public service is scheduled . Randy ' s ashes will be placed near his mother and father in Plainfield Cemetery .
