miter saw, or table saw.
If you are using pallets,
consider having the pieces
planed before use. How
you install your pieces
depends on the look you
want. If you want a clean,
universal look, choose one
type of wood. If you want
a more rustic look, stain
your wood different colors
and cut different lengths.
You also can use different
widths of wood for
your wall. Just remember
to get enough of each
width to make an entire
row. The lengths of wood
you use won’t matter in
each row, but the width
will, as the entire row
needs to be straight for the
next row.
If your accent wall is
anywhere near sinks or
tubs, be sure to add several
coats of polyurethane
to keep moisture out of
your wall. This can be
done before you install the
pieces (easiest for beginners
as you can check for
runs in the polyurethane
while they are laying flat)
or after you have put up
the wall.
Painting is obviously the
easiest way to add an accent
wall and the one that is easiest
to change if you don’t
like it. However, it’s hard to
beat the charm and warmth
a pallet wall adds to your
home.
clean remotes, game controllers,
knobs/handles and
many other surfaces.
Prepare a bleach solution
by mixing 5 tablespoons
(1/3 cup) bleach
per gallon of water or 4
teaspoons bleach per quart
of water. This can be used
on countertops and door
handles/knobs but should
not be used on electronics.
For tablets, cell phones,
keyboards and screens,
a microfiber cloth with a
50/50 water and rubbing
alcohol (70% or more)
solution is safe. The cloth
should be rung out well
and followed with a clean,
dry cloth. Do not use paper
towels on screens, tablets
or cell phones.
Use any cleaning/sanitizing/disinfecting
products
according to the label
in a well-ventilated area
and consider using gloves
while cleaning. Continue
to reduce your waste by
using washable cleaning
cloths and be sure to wash
your hands thoroughly (for
at least 20 seconds) after
cleaning. Stay healthy and
safe while protecting yourself
and the environment.
