funds that will increase the
overall sales at the junior
fair livestock auction.
Nineteen donations were
received, and the group
was able to help increase
the prices of animals for
five different junior fair
participants.
“We aren’t going to buy
specific animals,” said
Sally Ellis, a member of
the group. “We bump up
the kids in lowest of each
specifies.”
Last year 253 young
people sold animal projects
at the fair. Typically,
the money the kids receive
from the sale is used for
helping to fund next year’s
project and/or saved for
future educational needs
after their graduation.
This fund gives an
opportunity to individuals
who haven’t been involved
as auction buyers in recent
years, folks who are unfamiliar
with the online auction
format being used this
year and folks who participated
in the junior fair
events in the past to “pay
back” to the current group
of youth with a contribution
to this buyer’s pool.
There will be no live
auction this year. Animal
Malachi Cahill is pictured with his reserve grand champion market steer at the junior fair sale of champions held Oct. 3, 2019,
in Hunter Arena at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds. A live auction will not be held this year, but an online one will.
