Several garden club members and their junior helper are pictured with one of the America In Bloom judges in front of the fountain garden .
This summer ’ s visit to Coshocton by the America In Bloom judges found several of the Coshocton Town and Country Garden Club members meeting with the judges at the fountain garden at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds . The garden club maintains this garden and also has a special project going on at the garden this year .
The fountain garden is located close to the main Seventh Street entrance to the fairgrounds . It is a garden built into the fairground ’ s old fountain structure , which was a working fountain many years ago . Many retired people in the community remember throwing pennies into the fountain as children when they visited the fair with their family .
The Town and Country Garden Club spent extra time working the garden this year and planted flowers in the garden that they grew from seed because the club participated with the All-American Selections seed project . Participation in this project meant club members would plant and grow award-winning seeds , starting the seeds indoors in March .
The club members want to express thanks to Debbie Gaumer at The Garden Patch Greenhouse for helping them with the project and for helping to care for the seedlings in the warm Garden Patch Greenhouse , allowing the seeds to sprout and get off to a good start . The seedlings were eventually moved to the Coshocton In Bloom greenhouse on Denman Avenue in Coshocton .
Gratitude also goes to the CIB team for helping to water the growing plants and allowing
garden club members entry to the greenhouse to help care for the plants . The growing

plants were eventually placed into the ground the first week of June .
Because the seeds
Jessica Paisley Funeral Director produced so many more flowering plants than were needed for the fountain garden , the plants were shared all throughout the community in various other gardens planted by the CIB , thus spreading the beauty of the flowers all around the community .
The Town and Country Garden Club spent many hours weeding and preparing the soil in the garden to receive the new plantings that were placed into the garden with several perennial plants already growing there . Club members also painted the cement base of the garden , which helped to improve the overall beauty of the site .
The club members are pleased with the work they did , and the America In Bloom judges had

many positive comments for club members when they met with them at the garden . Club members encourage the Coshocton community to stop by and visit the garden , where hummingbirds and butterflies are frequently seen .
The Town and Country Garden Club meets monthly in various locations around the community . The club is a group of individuals who enjoy various types of gardening and also enjoy learning new gardening skills . They strive to have educational meetings and to find ways to give back to the Coshocton community .
New members are always welcome . Call Phyllis at 740-502-6990 or Cathy at 740-294- 7304 if interested in upcoming meetings .
