CHS girls fall to Minerva
Coshocton High School ’ s varsity girls soccer team fell to Minerva 0-3 . Minerva led 3-0 at half but only had one shot in the second half . Coshocton couldn ’ t capitalize on any of their chances in the second half . Fouls really hindered the flow of play after halftime . Destiny Frye had eight saves and some breakaway stops .
“ I was proud how we battled through sickness , injuries and adversity ,” Coshocton coach Kimmie Underwood said . “ We never gave up .”
CHS volleyball survives five-set thriller
On Saturday afternoon at Indian Valley High School , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team survived a five-set thriller , defeating the Braves by scores of 26-24 , 25-9 , 24-26 , 14-25 and 15-7 .
Offensively , the Redskins were led by Jalynn West , who dished out 31 assists to set up the offense . Her favorite target on the afternoon was Lindsay Bryant , who pounded 16 kills , while Kenidi Jackson and Lacey Guthrie each added five .
On defense Miyah Davis dug up 34 attacks to post a season high in digs . West contributed 21 , and Jackson dug up 14 .
The ‘ Skins shined on the service line , posting 17 aces for the match . Leading the way was Kenidi Jackson , who had six , followed by Miyah Davis with four and Jalynn West with three .
In the reserve contest , the hosts were too much for the JV Redskins as they lost in straight sets by scores of 17-25 and 23-25 .
Jaeli Tiedt had seven assists , two aces and three digs for the ‘ Skins . Maggie Laaper posted three kills and six digs .
On Tuesday night , Sept . 6 in Byesville , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team was defeated by Meadowbrook in straight sets by scores of 17-25 , 14-25 and 15-25 .
Leaders for Coshocton were Jalynn West with 23 assists , Lindsey Bryant with 10 kills and Miyah Davis with 12 digs .
Meadowbrook swept the night , winning the reserve contest 18-25 , 9-25 . Jaeli Tiedt had four aces and nine assists for the ‘ Skins . Sophia McFadden added six kills .
Ridgewood
RHS volleyball falls to Hiland
Ridgewood ’ s varsity volleyball team lost to Hiland by scores of 10-25 , 11-25 and 16-25 .
The Lady Generals were led by Kaelynn Robinson with 18 digs and eight kills ; Kelly Masloski with 13 assists ; Megan Mainwaring with six kills and two blocks ; and Kya Masloski with three kills , two aces and four points .
The varsity team also fell to River View by scores of 23-25 , 13-25 and 24-26 .
Leading the way against River View was Kaelynn Robinson with eight kills , 10 digs , one block , one ace and two points ; Kya Masloski with 11 assists , four blocks , two kills , one ace and one point ; Kaidence Smith with eight digs , four aces and 13 points ; Megan Mainwaring with seven kills ; Kelley Masloski with four assists and seven digs ; Anyssa Cutlip with two kills and two blocks ; and Skylar Wright with seven digs , one kill , one block , two aces and three points . Ridgewood JV won in two sets , and the Ridgewood freshmen won in three sets .
The Lady Generals also recently played Indian Valley but lost by scores of 18-25 , 21-25 and 13-25 . River View Lady Bears beat John Glenn
On Sept . 7 River View ’ s varsity girls golf team competed in a match at Wildfire Golf Course against John Glenn .
The team scores were River View with 178 ( season best ) and John Glenn with 167 . River View was led by Paige Nicely with 40 , Caily Shriver with 45 , Chloey Geog with 48 and Kortnee Mickle with 45 ( personal record ).
Young Black Bears do well on course
River View ’ s junior high golf team beat Meadowbrook with a team score of 148 .
Leading the way were Gavin Gress with 35 ( match medalist ), Colton Gress with 37 , Clark Frischen with 39 , Brynn Harstine with 37 , Taylor Harstine with 43 and Makayla Gress with 52 . Ty Woodward and Addyson Blair each scored a 66 .
The young Black Bears then beat Tri- Valley on Sept . 2 with a team score of 145 . They were led by Gavin Gress with 32 ( match medalist ), Colton Gress with 34 , Clark Frischen with 45 , Brynn Harstine with 39 , Taylor Harstine with 40 and Makayla Gress with 50 . Addyson Blair contributed with a 64 , and Ty Woodward added a 57 .
On Sept . 7 River View defeated Claymont 139-200 . The Black Bears were led by Gavin Gress with 31 ( match medalist ), Colton Gress with 34 , Brynn Harstine with 46 , Clark Frischen with 36 , Taylor Harstine with 38 and Makayla Gress with

47 . Black Bears report golf scores
Thad Cox and Caleb Kline competed for the River View varsity golf team on Sept . 1 in a tri-match at Hickory Flats . Cox had a 44 and Kline a 45 .
On Aug . 31 the Black Bears faced John Glenn and Coshocton . River View was led by Thad Cox with 42 , Caleb Kline with 45 and Isaiah Carpenter with 56 . Coshocton ’ s scores were Coby Moore with 45 , Carter Summers with 53 , Gavin Mathias with 51 and Nic Commerata with 55 .
On Sept . 6 Thad Cox shot a 44 , Caleb Kline had a 53 and Isaiah Carpenter had a 60 .
