Huck’s Tavern coming soon to Roscoe Village
By Jen Jones
Excitement is already
building for a new business
in Roscoe Village.
Huck’s Tavern will open
in the former Uncorked
building, hopefully by
the holiday season.
“We gutted the inside
and are doing so much
work to it,” said Stacy
Drennen, who is opening
the tavern with her
husband, Jeff. “It might
be hard to get some of
the materials we need,
but we are hoping to be
open by the holiday season.
I’m hoping by then
some of the restrictions
will be lifted too.”
Stacy Drennen said
opening a place like
this has been something
she and Jeff have
talked about for years.
“It was always a something,
some day, maybe
kind of thing, but then a
chance presented itself
and here we are,” she
said.
Stacy Drennen said
they have a group of
friends they like to
go out with, and they
had talked about having
a place where people
could sit and have
a drink and socialize.
“We wanted some place
that was friendly and
close to home,” she said.
The tavern is named
after their chocolate lab
that passed away a few
years ago. “Huck was
a one-of-a-kind dog —
very special. I thought
this would be a cool way
to honor his memory,”
Drennen said.
To keep honoring
family dogs, the menu
at the tavern will feature
gourmet hot dogs.
“I’ve asked family and
friends to pick toppings
for a hot dog, and then
we will name their creation
after their family
dog,” Drennen said.
Drennen said the tavern
will not be a restaurant
but will have
really good bar food.
“We are still working
on the menu, but I
think we’ll have a few
salads and soups with
the gourmet hot dogs. I
just want the food to be
really great,” she said.
“I’m so excited but very
nervous too. I’ve been
meeting all kinds of different
people. There is
so much more to opening
this than I ever
thought about. It’s definitely
a learning process.
I heard people are
excited about it. I want
it to be a warm, friendly
place where people feel
comfortable.”
The patio area will be
open next spring/summer.
Mary Ellen Given,
executive director of
Roscoe Village, said the
village is very excited to
see Huck’s Tavern open.
“I think Stacy will be a
tremendous partner for
the village, and we can’t
wait until they open.
I always enjoy being
around Stacy; she is
such a wonderful, positive
energy.”
Columbia Gas is set to raise awareness about
hunger across Ohio with its new campaign
Columbia Gas of
Ohio announced a partnership
with local agencies
around the state to
raise awareness about
hunger and inspire others
to take action to end
hunger in their communities.
Families in
Coshocton County will
benefit thanks to partnerships
between the
Mid-Ohio Food Collective
and local food pantries.
The Mid-Ohio Food
Collective’s latest
reports indicate a more
than 40% increase in
new families coming
to them or their partner
agencies for food.
In September Columbia
Gas will support the
Mid-Ohio Food Collective
in its efforts to
provide enough food for
more than 150,000 meals
a day through nearly
700 partner agencies
throughout Central and
Eastern Ohio. The company
also is helping Second
Harvest Foodbank
of North Central Ohio
launch no-touch mobile
pantries and is partnering
with other agencies
in Toledo, along the Ohio
River and more.
“This year food
banks across the country
are facing increased
demands because of the
pandemic, leaving many
of our neighbors wondering
where their next
meal will come from,”
said Vince Parisi, president
and chief operating
officer of Columbia Gas
of Ohio. “We want them
to know we’re here to
help.”
Since the beginning
of this year, Columbia
Gas has made more
than $700,000 in contributions
through the
NiSource Charitable
Foundation to local
nonprofits dedicated
to helping customers
and neighbors struggling
with hunger and
securing basic needs.
Job losses because of
COVID-19 have only
made Ohio’s hunger
problem worse.
In an effort to engage
employees in the fight
against hunger, Columbia
Gas made a $60
donation through the
NiSource Charitable
Foundation to Children’s
Hunger Alliance
on behalf of every
employee who donated
blood between July 1
and Sept. 4.
Throughout September
Columbia Gas
will use its social-media
channels to raise awareness
and encourage others
to speak out against
hunger by sharing pictures,
stories and hunger
facts. Follow Columbia
Gas of Ohio on Facebook,
