The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum will host a reading featuring the anthology , “ I Thought I Heard A Cardinal Sing : Ohio ’ s Appalachian Voices ,” a collection of poetry focused specifically on the cultural experiences of Appalachian poets located in or connected to Ohio ( Central ) Appalachia .
“ People often forget and many do not even know that nearly 1 / 4 of the state of Ohio rests inside Appalachia proper ,” Gunter-Seymour said , “ and pockets of Appalachian families who out-migrated generations ago prominently exist throughout the state , still firmly attached to their Appalachian roots . This collection is an intimate look at landscape and family from within Central Appalachia , delving far deeper than mainstream journalism .”
A copy of the anthology will be sent to all public libraries throughout Ohio and to all Ohio Appalachian middle and high schools with the support and assistance of the Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and Sheila- Na-Gig Editions . Copies of the anthology will be on sale from the publisher during the event and online at www . sheilanagigblog . com / cardinalsing .
No registration is needed , and this event is free of charge . The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum is located in Historic Roscoe Village . Museum hours are Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p . m .

Motorists and pedestrians are asked to use caution in this area .
This action comes as a result of citizens ’ concerns regarding traffic on West Russell Avenue . The public safety committee recommended that the intersection of West Russell Avenue and South Wall Street become a four-way stop .
At the village council meeting on Sept . 12 , council voted unanimously to approve this change .
