Career center students learn from photography judging

For the past six years , Angela Wright , business and medical office technologies instructor at the Coshocton County Career Center , has been bringing her students to the photography judging at the Coshocton County Fair . She feels hearing the judges ’ comments on their pictures they entered helps reinforce the concepts she teaches them in the classroom .
Wright teaches a small unit on digital photography to her students . Photography skills are important in the business world , whether the students go into marketing or become an entrepreneur and start their own photography business . Students take pictures at home and around the school . She also takes them to Clary Gardens , Roscoe Village and Lake Park . The students then entered their pictures at the Coshocton County Fair .
Wright feels photography allows her students to express themselves in a creative way . She has seen it boost their self-esteem . It also is good for their mental health , as it is a way to distract them from the burdens of everyday life . It also teaches them patience , to pay attention to detail and to think creatively .
