Enjoy these two fun fall treats

The hint of cold tinged my face as l perched in the wagon of my brother ’ s John Deere lawn mower . He had just purchased the wagon and was trying it out . The sun set behind us as I smelled the smoke of a bonfire next door .
Fall treats remind me of those times . Candy corn was always a staple this time of year . A bowl of the yellow , orange and white candy sat on the coffee table . It wasn ’ t common to have such accessible candy . My brother and I would try to make it last by biting off each color and chewing it slowly .
I thought it might be fun to replicate the colors of candy corn on a pizza . I read about people who put actual candy corn on pizza , but I wasn ’ t that brave . This pizza has the colors of candy corn with the richness of Alfredo sauce and a mix of cheeses .
I make pizza dough all the time at the Chili Crossroads Church when we serve pizza . I included the recipe we use with only one change . Crank your oven to as high as it can go , spray your cookie sheet and precook the crust for five minutes before you put on your toppings . This candy corn pizza is bound to be a family favorite .
Caramel apple spice muffins were fun to make too . The original recipe called for a spice cake mix , but I couldn ’ t find it at the grocery store . I used a carrot cake mix instead and added chopped apples . After baking them , I popped the muffins into the freezer to cool them more quickly so I could dip them into caramel and chopped pecans . The gooey caramel , crunchy nuts and apple bits in the moist cake along with a Popsicle stick to replicate a caramel apple were so cute . You could make these as mini muffins too so they would be even easier to pop into your mouth .
CANDY CORN PIZZA
Dough 1 tablespoon active dry yeast 1 ½ cups warm water 4 cups all purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 tablespoon sugar 1 / 3 cup olive oil Topping ½ jar Alfredo sauce 4 ounces Mozzarella cheese 4 ounces medium cheddar cheese Garlic salt
To make pizza dough , sprinkle yeast into warm water and let it rest a few minutes . Stir , then add in rest of ingredients . Mix until combined . Coat a mixing bowl with oil , then put dough ball into bowl . Turn so all of the dough is coated with oil . Cover tightly with plastic wrap , then let rise for 1-2 hours on counter . You also can refrigerate this for up to 4 days . Bring it to room temperature before using .
Preheat oven to 450 F . Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray . Pat out dough into a triangle shape . Preheat for 5 minutes , then take out and
top with ½ jar Alfredo sauce . Sprinkle with garlic salt . Add medium cheddar cheese to the bottom and middle of the triangle . Add Mozzarella cheese to the top of the triangle . Bake for another 8 minutes until top is golden brown . Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on the bottom to make the white part of the candy corn .
CARAMEL APPLE MUFFINS
1 box carrot cake or spice cake mix 1 apple chopped ( I kept peel on but feel free to peel it ) 2 eggs ¾ cup apple juice or cider 1 / 3 cup oil 1 package soft caramels 1 teaspoon water 4 ounces chopped pecans 12 Popsicle sticks
Preheat oven to 350 F . Spray muffin tins with cooking spray . Mix all ingredients . Spoon into 12 muffin cups . Bake for 16 minutes or until knife comes out clean .
