House by the hospital . Ronald McDonald Houses provide a homelike place for families to stay when their child is in the hospital . The houses are free to use . According to the Akron Ronald McDonald website , “ Staying at a Ronald McDonald House enables families to focus on the health of their child rather than anything else .” Each house offers freshly prepared meals , snacks , beds and recreational activities for the families who stay . They also help families connect with other families going through similar issues .
Riley ’ s family is grateful to have been able to stay at the RM House during Riley ’ s hospital stays . And Riley wants other kids to have a “ friend ” to keep with them so being sick isn ’ t so scary . For the second year , Riley has

asked friends and family to donate Scentsy “ Buddies ” to the Ronald McDonald House in Akron .
His dad , Craig , said the family has stayed at the Ronald McDonald House six or seven times . Cherie , his mom , said , “ The Ronald McDonald House is such an amazing place for families to stay while their child is either having medical procedures done or if the child has been admitted to the hospital .”
He made a video a few weeks ago that his mom shared on Facebook showing people what a buddy is and that he was collecting them again . He also talked to teachers at the career center to help him meet his goal of donating 50 buddies . “ I wasn ’ t nervous about the video or the teachers . It wasn ’ t hard because talking to people it really easy .”
Those who know Riley know what an amazing young man he is . Autism has been a struggle for him , but he works hard to excel at everything he wants to do . He wanted to give the kids buddies “ because they are nice , cuddly and the kids can use them as a friend .”
Cherie said the buddies give the child a friend to keep with them when they need comfort . “ Things can be scary when they don ’ t understand what is happening . Riley hopes the buddies will bring a smile to them . Since Riley has experienced many hospital stays , he knows exactly what those children are feeling . I am incredibly proud of the compassion and heart he has to want to help others .
Craig said , “ I ’ m super proud of him . He ’ s thinking of others and taking time to think of other people he will probably never meet .”
Riley said it was fun collecting the buddies . “ I felt children needed a buddy friend to watch over them when they are scared . I hope this makes them happy . Thank you to everyone who made this possible .” He wanted to collect 50 buddies to donate and surpassed his goal by collecting 70 buddies .
