My name is Jon Mosier , and I am a member of the Committee to Support Coshocton County EMS . I am also a retired law enforcement officer with 50 years ’ experience . During that time , I went on many calls with Coshocton County EMS . Each time their professional staff provided the patient efficient care treating and getting them to the hospital . This service eased suffering , got treatment started before arrival at the hospital , and saved lives .
The EMS is now asking the voters to pass a levy that would allow all three stations ( Coshocton , Warsaw , West Lafayette ) to remain open to continue serving the county . CCEMS makes about 6,000 runs each year . Time is very important when responding to calls for ambulance service . If a station has to be closed some calls will take the ambulance longer to arrive on scene , start treatment and transport to the hospital . At times this delay could result in the death of the patient who may have lived if a squad had arrived sooner .
It costs money to hire and keep the best EMTs and medics . We want to maintain the high quality of personnel to serve you
The board of directors of Home Loan Financial Corporation has declared a cash dividend in the amount of $ 0.275 per common share , according to Robert C . Hamilton , chairman and CEO . The dividend is payable Nov . 8 to shareholders of record as of Oct . 25 . and money for personnel is the only thing this levy is for .
This levy has nothing to do with paying for the new Coshocton station at Seventh and Walnut streets . The building was partially paid for with a two million dollar grant from the state of Ohio with the balance of approximately three million being paid with bonds that the EMS will pay off over time . If you were familiar with the old Coshocton station on Chestnut St . it was no longer suitable for housing squads , equipment and 24-hour crews . It needed replacing and the time for that was when the state would pay approximately 40 % of the cost . Again , the proposed levy is strictly for personnel .
Please vote yes for the proposed EMS levy on Nov . 5 . Help EMS so they can help you . If you or someone you care about ever need an ambulance , which we hope you never do , you will be glad you did .
