CHS volleyball picks up MVL wins
On Thursday evening , Oct . 7 in the Wigwam , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team moved into sole possession of second place in the MVL small division with a win over visiting New Lexington . Scores of the match were 25-23 , 25-13 and 25-13 .
It was a team effort for the ‘ Skins as many players made significant contributions .
Lindsay Bryant led the offensive attack as she pounded 14 kills and also contributed 12 digs and two blocks .
Jalynn West had 30 assists , two blocks and three service aces .
Miyah Davis dug up 18 Panther attacks to go along with her two service aces .
Hailey Helter had nine kills and two blocks , and Addy Gordon served up three aces and collected 10 digs .
The JV ‘ Skins also prevailed in straight sets by scores of 25-12 and 25-14 . Jillian Given had 11 assists to pace the Redskins while Lacey Guthrie led the offense with five kills .
In the sub-varsity match , Coshocton fell to New Lexington by scores of 21-25 , 25-18 and 17-25 .
Leah Mathias had eight kills , and Jillian Urban had three aces .
On Saturday afternoon , Oct . 9 in the Wigwam , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team fell to nonleague foe Hiland by scores of 24-26 , 20-25 and 16-25 .
Offensive leaders for Coshocton were Ella Bible with nine kills , Kenidi Jackson with eight , Lindsay Bryant with five and Hailey Helter with four . Jalynn West had 28 assists and three service aces .
Bible led the way on defense with 12 digs while Miyah Davis and Addy Gordon each collected 10 .
The JV ‘ Skins captured a three-set victory by scores of 27-29 , 25-23 and 25-21 . Jillian Given had 18 assists and 19 digs to lead the Redskins .
Leah Mathias contributed seven kills , and Saige Abbott collected 10 digs and six kills
Ȯn Monday night , Oct . 11 in an absolute slugfest , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team put together their best outing of the season as they went toe to toe with host New Lexington for nearly two hours . When the dust settled , the ‘ Skins claimed a hard-fought victory by scores of 26-24 , 25-23 , 21-25 and 25-19 .
Junior setter Jalynn West had an allaround game as she led the Redskins ’ offense with 37 assists and also led at the service line with four aces . In addition , she collected six kills including three down the stretch to help put away the Panthers .
Lindsey Bryant had a career-high 21 kills to lead the attack while Ella Bible and Hailey Helter had five each .
Miyah Davis and Addy Gordon led the defense with 16 digs while Bryant and Bible added 13 apiece .
Davis and Bible each served up three aces .
The JV ‘ Skins fell in a three-set battle by scores of 23-25 , 25-15 , 20-25 .
Jillian Given had 24 assists and five ace serves to lead the Redskins . Leah Mathias contributed seven kills while Saige Abbott pounded six kills and had four aces .
In the sub-varsity match , Coshocton claimed a 24-26 , 23-25 victory . Jillian Urban had 11 assists . Maggie Laaper had three kills and four service aces .
At Morgan High School , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team shrugged off a slow start and claimed a four-set victory over the Raiders by scores of 17-25 , 25-18 , 25-21 and 25-18 .
Hailey Helter had a big night at the net as she slammed 15 kills and picked up four blocks . Lindsay Bryant added 11 kills while Kenidi Jackson had seven and Ella Bible had six . Jalynn West set up the offense with 39 assists and led all players with seven service aces . Defensively , Miyah Davis paced the ‘ Skins with 20 digs , along with Bible with 15 and West with 12 .
The JV ‘ Skins earned a straight-sets victory by scores of 25-23 and 25-19 .
Offensively , Lacey Guthrie and Saige Abbott each had four kills to lead the Redskins . Jillian Given had 16 assists .
On Thursday night , Oct . 14 , the Coshocton Redskins volleyball team welcomed River View to the Wigwam in a pairing of two teams looking to hit their stride as tournament time approaches . River View came into the match on a fourgame winning streak while Coshocton was on a tear of its own , having won five of its previous six matches . Something had to give , and that something was the Black Bear defense as Coshocton rolled to a straight-sets victory by scores of 25-18 , 25-20 and 25-21 .
For the Redskins , Lindsay Bryant led all players with 16 kills while Hailey Helter added eight and was the blocking leader with four . Jalynn West ran a crisp offense with 31 assists and also added three blocks and four kills . Miyah Davis had 10 digs , and Ella Bible had nine .
Bible , the lone senior , had a quieterthan-normal night offensively with only three kills , but one of them was a sweet shot into the deep corner to close out game one and set the tone for the remainder of
the contest .
River View ’ s Ashley Newell and Kayla Dulgar combined for 22 kills , but it was not enough to quell the momentum . Dulgar had 26 assists and 13 digs to go along with her 10 kills while Cayla Shrimplin also had 13 digs in the losing effort .
Although they are rivals on the court , both teams demonstrated unity prior to the match as they became Winner ’ s Warriors , donning blue shirts in support of River View eighth-grader Ava Winner .

RHS volleyball downs TCC
Ridgewood defeated Tuscarawas Central Catholic by scores of 24-26 , 25-21 , 25-22 and 25-22 .
The Lady Generals were led by Ella Matusik with 54 assists , four digs , three kills , one block , three points and one ace ; Kaelynn Robinson with 20 kills , 15 digs , 10 points and four aces ; Hannah Maust with 19 kills , 20 digs , three blocks , six points and three ace ; Kadin Belt with 11 digs , five points and one ace ; Kaiedence Smith with 10 digs , 11 points and three aces ; Graci Armstrong with 10 digs , seven points and one ace ; Kelley Masloski with five kills , two assists and one block ; Kerstin Webster with four assists , two digs , one kill and one block ; and Kya Masloski with two kills and one block .
Ridgewood also defeated Garaway by scores of 25-20 , 25-18 , 22-25 and 25-18 .
The Orange and Black were led by Ella Matusik with 48 assists , six digs , one block , 12 points and seven aces ; Hannah Maust with 18 kills , 12 digs , one block , four points and two aces ; Kaelynn Robinson with 11 kills , 13 digs and nine points ; Karissa Gress with seven kills and two blocks ; Kaiedence Smith with nine digs , five points and two aces ; Kelley Masloski with four kills and four assists ; Kya Masloski with four kills ; and Kadin Belt with eight digs and four points . Ridgewood ’ s JV won in three sets . Ridgewood ’ s next victory came over Sandy Valley by scores of 25-14 , 25-13 and 25-13 .
