Elks makes 2 donations to musical groups

By Josie Sellers
When Elks members reach a certain donation goal , their lodge becomes eligible for grants from the national organization .
“ We try to find different 501 ( c )( 3 ) groups in the community that we can donate to ,” said Mike Wilson , exalted ruler of the Coshocton Elks Lodge 376 . “ We then submit a grant application and request the funds . This year we decided to help the community choir and the community band .”
Wilson and Steve Good , lodge secretary , presented $ 1,000 checks to representatives from both groups on Oct . 7 .

“ This will be a significant part of our budget ,” Vance said . “ It ’ s expensive to put on a concert , but we do get some funding from the city recreation budget and our patrons . We hope to do a full series this year of six to seven or maybe even eight concerts . We will even have a rain venue at Kids America .”
