Apply for the next Ohio Scholars in Aging program
Since 2013 the Ohio Department of Aging and the Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education have teamed up to offer the Ohio Scholars in Aging program . The program is for undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited educational institution in Ohio . Participants benefit from the opportunity to learn about aging-related policy-making , establish professional contacts , and gain career knowledge and skills in the field of aging .
“ Ohio ’ s older adult population is growing and so is our need for future leaders who are armed with the knowledge and connections necessary to create innovative and responsive services and policy ,” said Ursel J . McElroy , director of the department . “ Ohio Scholars in Aging provides tomorrow ’ s leaders with unique insights that will open new doors for them and the older adults in their communities .”
The program is open to emerging professionals in a variety of careers . These can include students of nutrition and allied health sciences , city and regional planning , gerontology , social work or other relevant focus areas .

Family Owned & Operated SINCE 1928 complete all requirements will receive a $ 1,000 stipend . Participants must complete an internship or project with a community organization . The internship or project must be at least 45 hours . In addition , participants must attend three meetings with the Ohio Department of Aging , attend an all-day experience at their local area agency on aging and prepare a poster presentation for the annual conference of the Ohio Association of Gerontology Education .

Sheriff ’ s office makes several promotions
The Coshocton County Sheriff ’ s Office recently announced new positions in the road division . The position was posted in order to hire prospected field training officers in which road deputies could potentially be promoted to the rank of corporal .
The sheriff ’ s office currently has promoted four road deputies for the position of corporal on each shift : Morgan Landis , Robert Hill , Tucker Hill and Albert Havranek . This program was established and implemented this past month with goals to better
assist new hires in their day-to-day training and to increase overall knowledge amongst all shifts . These promotions fall in line with the goals and vision to better serve the community in the present and in the future .
Landis has been serving in public safety since 2010 and with the sheriff ’ s office since 2014 . He will use his experience and training in fire service and EMS to add to the current training program and teach interoperability .
Robert “ Buddy ” Hill has been serving with the sheriff ’ s office since 2017 . He will use his military experience , leadership and training to add to the current training program .
Tucker Hill has been serving the community since August 2019 . He has demonstrated his ability to see the bigger picture when he has been in charge and shows great promise for leadership .
Havranek has been serving in law enforcement since 2004 and with the sheriff ’ s office since 2006 . He will use his years of experience to add to the current training program .
Airport Ridge Sporting Clays is located next to the Holmes County Airport ( 10G ) in Millersburg , Ohio . Our 12 station orange course and 18 station black course both offer shooting challenges for novice and experienced shooters .
