COSHOCTON - On Sept. 19, 2018, my C.C.Y.L. group had
the opportunity to experience a program day focused
on our county government.
We began the day at the courthouse annex, where
Janette Donaker and Breanne Smith gave us a well-con-
ducted tour that informed us of the ins and outs of how
things worked. Afterwards, my group trekked over to
the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Offi ce. Jason Given
provided us with a fascinating explanation of his job.
He enlightened us on what a prosecutor’s purpose
is and how they conduct their work. Our excursion
transitioned to the county sheriff ’s offi ce. Led by Sheriff
Tim Rogers, we had the opportunity to tour most of the
department. Here, the method with which they receive
911 calls and pinpointed locations was demonstrated. I
was fascinated with the precision and clarity that their
systems provided. As we moved outside, everyone was
immediately transfi xed on a large armored vehicle. We
were all very thrilled to discover that the department
was off ering us a ride in such a machine. Our next desti-
nation was the Medfl ight of Ohio, where they informed
us of their daily routine and allowed us to view their
helicopter.
Th e last location we visited was the Richard Downing
Airport. Administrator Bethel Toler gave us a brief tour
and treated us to a delicious lunch. Th ereafter, a few
presentations were given. Th ese included the Coshocton
County Recycling & Litter Prevention demonstrated by
Tammi Rogers, the Coshocton County EMS clearly pre-
sented by Todd Shroyer, and the last one was conducted
by Jandi Adams about Clary Gardens. Th roughout the
day, I learned many new things about my town’s govern-
ment and thoroughly enjoyed the experiences that I was
graciously provided. To learn more about Coshocton
