Junior fair auction wraps up fair activities

Before kicking off the junior fair sale of champions , organizers took time to thank some of the volunteers who are dedicated to making the event happen .

Junior fair director Ron Seitz thanked Rod Lindsey , auction committee president , and his wife Sarah Jane for their years of service . Seitz also expressed his appreciation for the auctioneers and the ringmen who volunteered at the auction held Oct . 7 in Hunter Arena at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds .
“ We appreciate you coming every year and the services that you do for us ,” Seitz said .
Before the bidding started , junior fair king and queen Conner Webster and Britton McCoy shared their own words of appreciation .
“ Thank you everybody for coming to our auction ,” Webster said . “ This is a huge support for all the kids . We love how much our community supports us at

this auction .” McCoy agreed with Webster . “ Thank you for coming out and supporting the youth of Coshocton County and all their amazing projects that everyone put a lot of work into ,” McCoy said .
Allie Mizer has been working with lambs for four years and has been in 4-H for eight . She was the second person in the auction ring with her reserve grand champion market lamb .
“ I was shocked to get it ,” Mizer said . “ Last year I was third , so this year I worked with them more than I ever have . My lambs were really well behaved . They were the tamest I ’ ve ever had . They were like big dogs .”
Mizer plans to use the money she made from the auction for college and to help her pursue a career in the medical field .
Her dad Andy was very proud of her . “ She worked hard and loves her animals ,” he said . “ It was great to see her hard work pay off .”
Wyatt Barnett ’ s reserve grand champion market duck rested in his arms before being auctioned off . Barnett said thank you to all the buyers who gathered to support the auction .
Coen Bible was glad to see the fair back to normal . He returned to the auction ring with the grand champion market duck for the second year in a row .
Bible ’ s duck was bought by Genesis Healthcare System .
“ We are excited to be here and supporting the community ,” said Lawrence Uhl , administrator with Genesis Healthcare System . “ We have a lot of patients that come from this area . We want to engage the community and show our support . It takes a village , and we are here to help any way we can .”
Repeat Champion
Coen Bible was glad to see the fair back to normal . He returned to the auction ring with the grand champion market duck for the second year in a row .
Ethan Fry ’ s grand champion dairy feeder was bought by Bruce Childress from Precision Truck Solutions .
“ I showed animals , and my kids showed ,” Childress said .

“ This is a good thing to support .”
He bid when the spirit moved him and planned to help out more kids . “ I ’ ll be here the whole night ,” Childress said .
Hunter Cannon auctioned off both his grand champion market goat and reserve grand champion market goat . One of the several people who helped him out was Todd Endsley from the Endsley Insurance Agency .
“ We see this as a way to give back to the community ,” he said . “ I was involved in 4-H and FFA , and personally , it did a lot for me .”
Cannon won the same prizes last year with his goats . He said the key to his success is figuring out the right feed program .
“ I ’ m going to put my money back into the herd and make some financial purchases ,” Cannon said . “ Hopefully , I ’ ll be able to repeat again next year .”
Prior to auctioning off the supreme dairy product , supreme goat product and supreme llama product , one more couple was celebrated for their dedication to supporting area youth .
Logan Pyers , agriculture education teacher at Ridgewood High School , presented Sally and Chuck Ellis with the 2021 4-H Ambassador Award .
“ They support youth at the sale and at other agriculture events through donations of items and financial donations , and they helped start the Friends of the Livestock Auction ,” Pyers said .
