Dan and June Markley give back

Dan and June Markley can be found throughout the community with their camera snapping pictures of Coshocton County activities . They also have spent their fair share of time behind the scenes at many of the events they photograph .
The Markleys were at the fair on Oct . 5 , camera in hand , snapping photos of displays in the youth building and recalling memories of their time helping out at the Coshocton County Fair .
“ We really enjoyed the people ,” June Markley said . “ Our first year with the art hall , we had 100 photos . When we left , there were 700 . We almost had to put them in the bathroom .”
Dan Markley was on the fair board for 11 years , and June could often be found helping him out with his art hall duties .
“ The judges were awesome ,” she said .
They also were involved with the fair as 4-H advisors for 20 years with 46 members in their club .
“ Our youngest son Tim , when he was 8 years old , he won grand champion hog right off ,” June Markley

The Coshocton County Fairgrounds isn ’ t the only place the couple is active . The West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce honored June and Dan Markley for their years of service to the village . The couple has been active at the First Baptist Church for at least 75 years .

The lamb lead classes were held Oct . 5 in the junior fair arena at the Coshocton County Fairgrounds .
The contestants ’ apparel had to be at least 75 % wool but did not necessarily have to be home-sewn .
Judging was based on entrants ’ outfit , poise and appearance ; control and presentation of animal ; and garment ’ s suitability and originality .
