Masloski updates board on start of the school year

The Ridgewood Board of Education met in regular session at West Lafayette Elementary School in the cafeteria on Sept . 21 .
Superintendent Mike Masloski updated the board on the opening of the school year . All students are currently receiving free breakfast and lunch regardless of the ability to pay . This will last until December or as long as the funding is available . There are approximately 150 students participating in remote learning out of a total enrollment of 1,270 students .
The board of education would like to commend the entire Ridgewood Local School District staff for its hard work and preparation in making the start of the 2020- 21 school year get off to a smooth start . The cooperation of the students and parents also has helped in the uncertainty facing them during the pandemic .
The Muskingum Valley
Health Clinic School Health Care Program is now open during school days from 8 a . m . to 3 p . m ., providing health services to students , their families and the community . To schedule an appointment , call 1-888-454-5157 . The clinic is located in the modular behind the elementary school .
The treasurer ’ s report by Jay Tingle , treasurer , was approved as presented including :
— FMLA agreement for administrative services with Paramount Preferred Solutions for FY21 and FY22 for $ 1,920 per year .
— MOU agreement with Lafayette Township and Linton Township .
— Accepted donations from Debra Graham for RLSD Athletic Department , $ 150 ; National FFA Foundation to RLSD FFA , $ 1,500 ; Carol Lawless to RLSD , $ 200 ; and Buckeye Beverage Barn RLSD ( RES-018 ), $ 326 .

The superintendent ’ s report included the following items that were approved :
— Hired Brianna Grace for aide position effective Aug . 24 and Victor Dickerson for utility position effective Aug . 31 .
— Ron Bond as a district volunteer .
— Classified subs for 2020-21 school year , Kimberly Horvath , Josh Smith and Chelsey Tolliver .
— A pay increase for nonstaff classified substitutes effective Oct . 1 to $ 9.50 an hour .
— Bids accepted from Hahn Oil for fuel and Precision for tire bid .
— Approved the replacement of windows at RES known as Area 2 with Capitol Aluminum & Glass at a cost of $ 49,900 .
The next regular board meeting will be held Monday , Oct . 19 at 7 p . m . at Ridgewood Elementary School in the cafeteria .

Olinger and Company holds an open house
