The county is gearing up for its annual holiday activities , including the candle and tree lightings in Warsaw , West Lafayette , and Roscoe , but there ’ s a notable absence , the Festival of Trees , and Christmas Parade . Unable to find a volunteer for this year ’ s program , the Towne Centre Association was unable to organize the event this year . “ Fortunately , we had enough money left over from last year so that we were able to put up decorations this year ,” said association president Sandi Guinther . The association ’ s Joliday Christmas festival , which fundraises for the decoration of Main Street , was one of the programs which saw itself fall to the wayside without organization . “ We had a lot of outside volunteer help as well ,” Guinther said regarding efforts to decorate and organize appearances of the Mr . and Mrs . Claus with available funds . “ Students at the Joint Vocational School tested all the lights and have been working on them for three months and the River View High School OWE class prepared little bags of candy to hand out when Santa arrives ,” she continued .

Preparations are underway ahead of the Target Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago , and the Ridgewood ’ s Marching Generals are steeling themselves for the event tomorrow . “ It ’ s a little longer than the one we do at Canal Days , which is one of the longer local ones we do ,” said Director John Lindig in regard to the 1- and 1 / 2-mile route . “ It ’ s not too long as far as wearing people out . But we will be playing a lot more because the parade stops and starts because of commercial breaks .”
