Four different cooks shared their best pot of chili during the Interim Hospice and Palliative Care Chili Cook-off .
The event was held Oct . 27 at the senior center . Amie McVey and Jennifer Love were excited to be there representing Interim .
“ This gives us a chance to show people what our programs are , let them know we are here and what we are about ,” McVey said .
She and Love scooped up servings of chili made by fellow Interim employee Linda Danskin .
“ It contains bison , hamburger , peppers , beer and wine ,” McVey said . “ It ’ s very interesting and a little spicy .”
Senior center co-directors Jean Jacobs and April George brought in chili for people to sample , and the fourth entry was the chili being served at the center for lunch .
“ It ’ s my grandma ’ s recipe ,” Jacobs said . “ I grew up on it . I ’ ve only changed one little thing .”
George wouldn ’ t reveal all the ingredients in her chili . “ My seasoning is a secret ,” she said . “ I also put black beans in with my kidney beans .”
The senior center opened back up to the public for lunch in April and for activities in May after following various restrictions due to the COVID pandemic .
“ Seeing a full room warms my heart ,” Jacobs said .
Both she and George encourage people to come check out the senior center and see what activities they are offering .
