Footlight Players getting ready for ‘ Almost , Maine ’

The Coshocton Footlight Players are preparing to take their audience to “ Almost , Maine ,” where they will meet various couples who find themselves falling in and out of love .

“ It all happens at 9 p . m . one night ,” said Shane Pyle , one of several directors for the play . “ I like the fact that it ’ s different scenes . It ’ s not one big continuous one . They are small , little stories that talk about love , relationships , and how they work and don ’ t work .”

In addition to Pyle , the play is being directed by Susan Metz Guthrie , Nathan Mayse and Shelly Lillibridge . The cast includes Olivia Allen , Jill Baumgardner , Sophia Dotson , Nick Fischer , Patti Fischer , Chyanne Foster , Ben McCurdy , Quentin Wherley , Palmer Witt , Sheila Samson-Witt and

“ It ’ s a little challenging , but we have great directors ,” she said .

Allen is new to the Footlight Players but did plays while attending Ridgewood High School .

“ I like having the opportunity to be different parts on stage ,” she said .

Samson-Witt and her son Palmer join the group from Dover .

“ I like being in plays and being someone who is so not you at all ,” Samson- Witt said .

She has been in a production of “ Almost , Maine ” before and is excited to bring it to audiences in Coshocton .

“ This show is all about love , the different aspects of it and the roller coaster of life ,” Samson-Witt said .

Palmer said he enjoys making characters come to life and making people happy .

Pyle said with each scene being so short , they are really able to dive into character development with this play . He ’ s also excited to give the audience a glimpse of the Northern Lights , which helps set the stage for this fictional town that is so far north it ’ s almost in Canada .
