And every dollar spent at local business-

The River View School District Income
Tax Levy is a very big topic. We the voters
made our voices heard when we voted
it down, but here we are again. They
shouldn’t be allowed to put it back on the
ballot within at least a year. We voted it
down and because its not the outcome
they wanted we have to do it all again in
4 months time. The flyers the school sent
out were short and sweet. They will only
say the bare minimum in hopes that peo-
ple will just vote yes. I say this because
when people actually research this and
find out how it will impact their finances
most don’t like what they are finding out.
First of all things that can and will be
taxed are as follows: wages, salaries, tips,
interest, dividends, unemployment bene-
fits, taxable scholarships and fellowships,
pensions, annuities, IRA distributions,
capital gains, state and local bond inter-
est, federal bond interest, alimony, AND
all other sources of income (including
lump sums, 401K distributions, etc.)
Information on this at tax.ohio.gov
page 4.
What can not be taxed is social security
benefits, disability and survivor benefits,
railroad retirement, child support, work-
ers comp, and property received as a gift
bequest or inheritance. There is no cap
on that $50,000 income, so if you make
more you pay more, if you make less you
pay less. Since posting my information
that I have researched and thought peo-
ple should know, myself and others have
been kicked off sites ran by supporters of
the levy, we have been called names, told
we are uneducated, told we must not care
about or we hate the kids, called vari-
ous names, and just verbally harassed

because we don’t feel the same way. If
this matter is so simple, cut and dry then
why are the supporters mad at those of
us actually researching this? Its ok for
them to bully and harass us but it’s not ok
for us to express our opinions and views
on the matter. This will have a negative
impact on those who are barely making
it now with no more to spare. Not all re-
tired people live on social security, some
live on pensions. With everything else
around us going up (property taxes, gas
tax, sales tax, healthcare cost, etc.) some
just simply don’t have any more to give.
Its not only the retired people, what about
the ones barely making it from week to
week? What about all those delinquent
property taxes that people already cant
afford? People we are not against the kids
or the school, but we have to know how
this will impact all of us financially. I will
not vote to take from people who have
no more to spare. I encourage everyone
to do their research. Call the IRS; call
the Ohio Dept. of Taxation. This tax will
affect anything you have to claim as in-
come. Not to mention if you are married
and both parents work you are being tri-
ple taxed (property taxes, your wages and
your spouses wages). In households that
are double or triple taxed we shouldn’t
have to pay to play sports, band, choir, or
for school lunches.
Fun Fact from the Ohio Dept. of Taxa-
tion (yes I called them) If a school is con-
sidered “Traditional” (which RV is) they
can not tax social security, if a school is
considered “Alternative” they can tax
social security.
