Write-On Writers Meeting: The Write-On Writers Guild's
next meeting will be Monday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. in the public li-
brary's large meeting room. The public is invited to join us as
we bring refreshments and play Scrabble and other games.
There may be a fun Christmas-themed writing activity.
Cub Scouts: On Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m., there will be a
meeting at the East School for the purpose of establishing a
Cub Scout Pack in Newcomerstown. The mission of Scouts
BSA is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral
choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values
of the scout oath and law. Cub Scouting is open to all youth,
boys and girls, in grades K-5. If you are interested in helping
re-establish the Cub Scouts in our area, plan on attending.

Breakfast Buffet: The West Lafayette Lions will have a
breakfast buffet on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 to 10 a.m.
at the West Lafayette United Methodist Church. Cost is $8
for adults, $4 for children, and children under two eat for
free. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, French toast,
scrambled eggs., orange juice, and coffee.
SWCD Meeting: The Coshocton Soil and Water Conserva-
tion District will meet Dec. 11 at 10 a.m. for a monthly board
meeting. Meetings are held at the office, 724 S. Seventh St.
Meetings are always held the second Wednesday of the
month. Schedules are subject to change.

Raffle Tickets: The Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team will
be selling raffle tickets for the makings of a Thanksgiving
dinner, Christmas dinner, and Easter dinner. The drawings
will take place at least one week before each holiday. Tickets
are $5 each or five or $20 and can be mixed or matched.

Monday of each month at The Church of The Nazarene Adult

Canal Quilters: The Coshocton Canal Quilters meet on the
first Tuesday of each month at the Roscoe United Methodist
Church. Meetings begin at 6:30 p.m. New members are
always welcome!
Breakfast Buffet: Army Navy has a breakfast buffet every
third Saturday of the month. Veterans and first responders
eat for free. Children 12 and under eat for free. Adults, $5.
Vietnam Veterans: The Vietnam Veterans meet the second
Saturday of each month at the American Legion at 9 a.m. If
you are a Vietnam Veteran who served during the Vietnam
War, whether you served in country or not, you are welcome
to attend.
Kiwanis Club: Kiwanis Club of Coshocton meets Wednes-
days, 12 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 434 Chestnut St., Coshocton.

Chili Cook-Off: The Royal Butterflies Relay for Life Team will
be hosting a chili cook-off and quarter auction at RHDD, 1517
Chestnut St., Coshocton, on Saturday, Dec. 14 from noon to
4 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Royal Butterflies Relay for
Life Team’s effort. The chili cook-off fee is $5 for participant.

Mental Health Support: NAMI Coshocton County will host
a family and friends support and education event featuring
Frank and Cece Cugliari, who will share their stories about
having family members with mental health illness on Mon-
day, Dec. 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the grand central station
room at the Coshocton County Regional Medical Center. For

Make It, Take It: Saturday, Dec. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m., youth
in grades kindergarten through eighth are invited to the
Coshocton Community Center to prepare a mosaic tile can-
dle base along with gift box and a card. This is a free event.

Coshocton Public Library System will close early at 5
p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27 and remain closed all day on
Thursday, Nov. 28 in honor of Thanksgiving.
Food for Fines, Coshocton Public Library, West Lafayette
Branch Library, Dec. 2 – 30: During the month of December,
the Coshocton Public Library and West Lafayette Branch Li-
brary will waive overdue fines on your library record when
you bring a non-perishable food donation for people or pets.
This offer only applies to overdue fines. It does not include
lost or damaged items. Donations will go to the Salvation
Army Food Pantry or Coshocton County Animal Shelter.

DVDs, videos, and magazines for sale. The bookstore is in
the basement of the Coshocton Public Library and operated
by the Friends of the Library. All proceeds benefit the
Coshocton Public Library, West Lafayette Branch Library,
and Bookmobile. It is open to the public for cash sales only.
The elevator at the Coshocton Public Library is temporarily
out of service, so please be aware that the bookstore
can only be accessed by the stairs. We apologize for the

Monday Book Talk, Coshocton Public Library: Small Meet-
ing Room, Monday, Dec. 2, 6:30 – 8 p.m.: Monday Book Talk
is open to all adults who like to read. The December book is
“The Heart is a Lonely Hunter” by Carson McCullers. With
the publication of her first novel, Carson McCullers became
a literary sensation. At the novel’s center is the deaf-mute
John Singer who becomes the confidant for various types
of misfits in a Georgia mill town during the 1930s. McCullers
spins a haunting, unforgettable story that gives voice to the
rejected, the forgotten, and the mistreated as well as giving
voice to the quiet, intensely personal search for beauty.
West Lafayette Adult Book Discussion Club, West Lafay-
ette Branch Library, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.: West
Lafayette Adult Book Discussion Club is held on the first
Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the activities room
at Lafayette Pointe, 620 East Main Street, conveniently
located across the street from the West Lafayette Branch
Library. The December book is “The Templars’ Last Secret”

Holiday Open House, West Lafayette Branch Library, Sat-
urday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Mingle and jingle with family
and friends at the West Lafayette Branch Library Holiday
Open House. Enjoy hot cocoa, cookies, a holiday craft, music,
and a door prize drawing. Come and have fun before the
West Lafayette Christmas parade, which will go past the
branch library at 1 p.m. This holiday celebration is held in
conjunction with the West Lafayette Chamber of Commerce
‘Christmas in the Village’ community event.
Chi Class, Roscoe United Methodist Church: Gym, Thurs-
days, Dec. 5 and 12, 10 - 11 a.m.: Join the Coshocton Public
Library at the Roscoe United Methodist Church Gym to
practice gentle exercises that reduce stress and increase
vitality. Chi Class is taught by Holli Rainwater, a Certified Tai

Coffee Club, Presbyterian Church parlor, 142 N. Fourth
Street, Coshocton, Monday, Dec. 9, 10 – 11:30 a.m.: Senior
adults 55 and older are invited to join us for a hot cup of
coffee and enlightening conversation. We explore a differ-
ent topic each month: Armchair travel, history, biography,

The small meeting room at the back of the children’s room
at the Coshocton Public Library has been decorated for
the holidays. Use your powers of observation to find the
items listed on your questionnaire: Ten candy canes, a furry
stocking, a gingerbread man, and so much more. Whether
you are a preschooler, school-age child, or teen, there will
be an age-appropriate challenge for you. Reservations are
not necessary. Just drop into the library for a holiday-spir-
ited activity.
