Directors Michelle and Mark Kittel decided to have a cast of young actors who are under 10-year-olds and a cast of older actors who are 11-years-old and up. “My husband Mark, who also is directing, had the idea,” Michelle said. “This has a small cast and our youth productions are usually big shows. We wanted everyone to have the opportunity to be in roles. They’ve really embraced it. These kids are blowing me away.” The younger actors will play principal characters in the production on Dec. 8 and Dec. 14. Leading them on those days will be Garrett Hogue as Charlie Brown. “I was in Willy Wonka and The Wizard of Oz, but this is my first speaking role,” said Hogue who is 8-years-old. “The last play was fun and so was the one before that. I like getting to meet new people.” Also playing Charlie Brown is 15-year-old Alex Huff- man. “At a very young age my mom introduced me to all the Charlie Brown movies,” Huffman said. “I really liked them growing up. Playing Charlie Brown is a very fun role. He has a lot of ups and downs at certain points. It’s fun being on stage and getting to put on a play that everyone knows.” Ella Perrenoud is glad she listened to her mom’s sug- gestion to try out for the play. “It’s been fun,” said the 8-year-old who plays Sally. “I like being with kids and being on stage.” Ten-year-old Katie Parshall is Snoopy in the produc- NOVEMBER 27, 2019
