Kirby Shivers was named MVP , and also received a trophy for being the leader of the 500 Club with 1,175 points , as well as the award for best defensive back . Jeff Warren was awarded best offensive back , and Jack Shurtz was named best offensive lineman . Jerry Lower was named best defensive lineman . Jo Ellen McCoy , captain of the cheerleaders , Kathy Ross , Karen Carpenter , Peggy Mc- Clear , Jennie Ott and Kathy Reid were honored for their sideline performances . A special award was presented to Terry Guilliams , who was taken out of the season with a broken leg

The Friends of the Museum received a special look at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum ’ s next exhibit , a collection of movie posters . Simply titled “ Classic Movie Posters ,” the exhibit will feature examples from the collection Richard Teichert of Columbus , who attended and helped to present the exhibit . He began collecting posters as a child and likes the pre-Depression posters in particular . “ During the Depression studios had to resort to cheaper printing methods and the quality and beauty of the posters declined a great deal ,” said

With the close of the ‘ 91 football season for Muskingum College , Marty Arganbright closes the book on his college career . The defensive back for the Muskies , and former Redskin , took part in the 21-14 win over John Carroll University on Saturday . “ We finally beat one of the powers of the Ohio Athletic Conference , when we beat John Carroll , 21-14 ,” Arganbright said . His father , Jim , and his brother , Jon , also attended the college and played football for the school . Majoring in elementary education , he will be graduating in January . Former RVHS volleyball coach Cathy Ames has now been inducted into the Ohio High School Coaches ’ Hall of Fame . The ‘ 72-73 season was her inaugural run as a coach , which was at Indian Valley South High School . In 1976 she began her career at River View , which would run until ‘ 96 with a two season break in ‘ 94 . Over her career the Lady Bears claimed 13 Muskingum Valley League championships , 22 sectionals , 16 district , six regionals and six trips to state which resulted

Mansfield local , Roger Moore will be hosting a jewelry demonstration at the Liberty House in Roscoe Village . Taking place Friday , Nov . 25 , Moore will demonstrate 18th century silver jewelry in traditional Native American styles . “ He makes beautiful handmade copper and silver jewelry that has been very popular in the store ,” said Liberty House owner Becky Lowe . “ I like to carry Ohio and locally made items with this kind of high artistic value . I hope people will come to meet Roger and see and hear his fascinating history of the peoples who once lived in this region .” Moore , a man of Melungeon descent , will do the demonstration in traditional garb . “ Because of my Native American background and knowledge of the culture , I have had the opportunity to be in several films on both the History Channel and A & E . Most recently , I was involved in the PBS mini-series , ‘ The War that Made America ’, where I played Chief Hendrick of the Mohawks .”
