There are a few loose ends to tie up for the Roscoe Village annual candle-lighting ceremony , but everyone in the village is excited the event is back .

“ We had a virtual ceremony last year , and not everything is finalized for this year , but we are excited to be here in person . We have had excitement from returning guests as well ,” director Clarrisa Roof said . “ For many people it is a family tradition to come to the candle lighting .”

The ceremonies will be held Saturday , Dec . 4 and Saturday , Dec . 11 . In the afternoon Santa will be at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum . Visitors can get

complimentary hot-mulled cider , cookies and roasted chestnuts and listen to strolling Christmas carolers . Shop keepers and staff in the Hay Building will be in costume . There will be craft vendors in the Hay Building for some Christmas gifts on Dec . 11 .

Hands-on Christmas crafts for children will be offered both Saturdays with an opportunity for a Christmas-themed tin punch craft , Victorian card making and candle dipping .

The regular living history tours remain during the day , and in the evening there will be a Christmasthemed guided tour beginning at 7 p . m . Shops and restaurants will stay open

At 6 p . m . Roscoe Village will begin celebrating the holiday season at the main stage with the Christmas candle-lighting ceremony . The ceremony this year will honor teachers .

“ Stories will be aimed toward that , and our honorary candle lighter and one of the story tellers are local teachers ,” Roof said .

“ Things are still in the works , and everything is not confirmed yet , but this is where we are at . It is a great time to experience the village holiday tradition of the Christmas tree lighting and the joy of an old-fashion tradition .”

Coshocton High School Athletic Department announced a new online ticketing process .

All ticket sales at the school beginning with winter sports will be online only . There will be no cash sales at the gates ; however , tickets can be purchased at the gate by scanning a QR code using a cell phone and credit card .
