River View High School junior Aliah Williamson spoke about her Heroes of Today campaign .

Aliah Williamson , River View High School junior and a CCP student at Zane State , will compete for Miss Ohio ’ s Outstanding Teen in June .
She is currently serving as Miss North Coast Outstanding Teen . Her platform for the pageant is offering the community a way to give back to veterans . She spoke to Coshocton and Warsaw

elementary students about veterans . She was surprised many children didn ’ t even know what a veteran was .
Heroes of Today is her social movement and senior project . Williamson is selling buttons to raise money for a scholarship to present to a River View senior .
“ For me , today is just as exciting as Christmas ,” Williamson said . “ At Christmas we open our gifts , spend time with our families and celebrate the birth of Jesus . Are we truly honoring
Jesus if we only do so at Christmas ? Through Miss America ’ s Outstanding Teen program and Miss Ohio ’ s Outstanding Teen Program , I ’ ve been given a platform to share my love and appreciation for veterans by giving the community a way to give back to veterans past , present and future .
“ My goal is to make people think about honoring them every day . After speaking to these seven classrooms , I can proudly say they know what a veteran is and how to properly thank them .”

MVL high school volleyball players recently received their league awards .
Defensive Player of the Year for the big school division went to River View High School senior Cayla Shrimplin . Player of the Year was her classmate Kayla Dulgar .
All MVL first-team awards went to River View seniors Dulgar and Shrimplin . A special mention award was given to River View senior Alivia Spaulding . River View freshman Haley Balo received an honorable mention .
River View finished fourth in the big school division with an 8-8

MVL record and a 13-9 overall record .
In the small school division , Coshocton senior Miyah Davis was named the Defensive Player of the Year .
Coshocton players who earned All-MVL first-team honors were seniors Jalynn West , Davis and Lindsay Bryant . Coshocton sophomore Kenidi Jackson earned a special mention award , and an honorable mention was given to Coshocton sophomore Lacey Guthrie .
Coshocton finished third in the small school division with a league record of 11-5 and an overall record of 16-6 .
