Roscoe ’ s 52nd Christmas Candlelighting Ceremony will take place Saturdays , Dec . 2 and 9 .
Gather around the base of the Christmas tree for a Christmas story from the honorary storyteller . After the story the choir will lead everyone in the singing of “ Silent Night ” while the honorary candlelighter will start passing the flame to light everyone ’ s candles . The ceremony will start at 6 p . m . and last around an hour .
Do some Christmas shopping in all the stores in the village and grab dinner before or after the ceremony . Free hot mulled cider and cookies also will be offered before and after the ceremony .
If you are looking for some more Christmas history , join Historic Roscoe Village on a guided tour . Visit the pantry of the Johnson home and hear of all the recipes enjoyed around the dinner table . Venture just up the stairs to the family ’ s parlor and see all their decorations and explore the beginnings of Christmas trees , stockings , Yule logs and more .
