Soap box derby returns to Tuscarawas County
The Tuscarawas County Soap Box Derby Association announced the 66th running of the Tuscarawas County Soap Box Derby on Sunday , June 27 . This year ’ s race will return to the freshly paved track on Wabash Avenue , behind Quaker Stadium in New Philadelphia . Last year ’ s derby was canceled due to COVID-19 .
Racing is expected to begin at 10 a . m . Spectators are encouraged to attend and should bring their own chairs .
The winner in each of the three divisions will advance to the 83rd running of the All American Soap Box Derby World Championship race to be held at Derby Downs in Akron on Saturday , July 24 .
The derby is seeking racers interested in participating in this year ’ s race . Racers must be age 7-20 and reside in Tuscarawas , Carroll , Coshocton , Guernsey , Harrison or

The derby also is seeking sponsors . Businesses making a donation will have their ad placed in the race-day program and on the derby ’ s socialmedia page . Sponsors also will have the ability to feature their logo on a banner display on race day and on shirts given to racers .
