MONDAY , APRIL 27 , 1981 The Ohio Education Association has decided on the winner of this year ’ s John F . Kennedy Scholarship , and it is one of Coshocton ’ s teachers . Kenneth R . Eaton Jr . has been selected as recipient of the scholarship . A graduate of the Ohio State University , Eaton has recently enrolled in a master ’ s program at the university ’ s Zanesville branch . He ’ s taught at CHS since he graduated from the university eight years ago . He teaches mathematics and American history .
MONDAY , APRIL 22 , 1991 Three to two was the final score of Friday ’ s tennis match between Coshocton and Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans in the final game of the record season . SUNDAY , APRIL 22 , 2001 A group of Coshoctonians were aboard a flight home from Las Vegas when a passenger suddenly went into a shock . Kim Garrard , a registered nurse at CCMH , responded to the crew ’ s request for passengers with medical training . “ Sit still , don ’ t move ,” her husband Jeff said . She went and helped anyway . Ending up as the only person aboard with training , she stabilized the patient with equipment aboard the plane and coordinated efforts with hospital staff on the ground in Wichita , Kansas , where they made an emergency landing to get her to a hospital . Dawn Dawson , another Coshoctonian travelling with the couple , said “( Garrard ) was absolutely fabulous . She probably saved this woman ’ s life .”
WEDNESDAY APRIL 27 , 2011 April 13-16 saw Keim Lumber host a sale for its Centennial anniversary . The sale ended up being a huge success . “ We had roughly 3,500 more people through the front door for the whole sale when compared to 2010 ,” said Vice President Robbie Keim . Bill Keim , president of the company , said about the company ’ s success , “ A lot of it is the atmosphere here at Keim Lumber and the store with all this extra space , people can shop without feeling crowded . People like to go shopping . Even if they aren ’ t going to spend , they enjoy being inside where they can browse , feel comfortable and enjoy their time .”
